Intervention Worker – Your Choice Project

Are you passionate about tackling domestic abuse, reducing reoffending and creating safer communities? Do you have the skills to engage and motivate individuals to make positive changes in their lives?

Equation is committed to breaking the cycle of abuse by delivering evidence-based interventions that address the root causes of unhealthy abusive behaviours in all relationships, doing so with positivity, passion, rigour, compassion and collaboration. We give space to individuals to reflect, take accountability for their actions and support them in making long-lasting, positive changes.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Equation, a Nottinghamshire based, award winning and innovative charity dedicated to preventing and responding to domestic and sexual violence and abuse. Due to an internal promotion and potential expansion, we are looking for applicants for a post as an Intervention Worker to deliver therapeutic interventions to individuals who have been identified as having used abusive behaviours towards an intimate partner or family member, aided by an evidence-based manual and an experienced team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate evidence-based therapeutic intervention programmes to groups and individuals, focusing on areas such as anger management, substance misuse, healthy relationships, and decision-making.
  • Conduct assessments to identify clients’ needs and develop personalised support plans.
  • Use trauma-informed approaches to support clients in understanding and processing their experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and services to ensure a holistic approach to client support.
  • Provide advocacy and practical support, including safety planning and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with organisational policies.
  • Facilitate educational workshops to raise awareness of domestic abuse and healthy relationships.
  • Engage participants using motivational techniques to encourage active participation and commitment to change.

About You:

We’re looking for a compassionate, skilled professional who possesses some but not necessarily all of the following:

  • Experience working with individuals around domestic abuse, trauma, or other complex needs.
  • An understanding of trauma-informed practices and therapeutic approaches.
  • A skilled communicator with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
  • The ability to manage sensitive and challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding procedures and domestic abuse legislation.
  • Knowledge and passion around domestic abuse offending and recidivism, who is keen to develop and learn new skills.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and inclusive work environment.
  • Comprehensive training and development opportunities.
  • Access to supervision and reflective practice.
  • Flexible working arrangements to promote work-life balance.
  • The chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.

It is to be noted that this role requires flexible working and the ability to agree to some evening working, this will be agreed upon with your manager, if offered the position.

Additionally, as a result of potential expansion into areas of work tackling domestic abuse within LGBTQ+ relationships, individuals representative of this community are encouraged to apply.

We are an equal opportunities employer.  We strive to ensure our services are representative of the communities we work with, particularly in terms of the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 or in terms of personal/professional experience of domestic violence and abuse.
