This session is provided by Rights of Women:

Founded in 1975, Rights of Women is the only frontline women’s legal rights charity in England and Wales. Our vision is to achieve equality, justice and safety for all women.

We aim to advise, educate and empower women by:

  1. Providing free confidential legal advice by specialist women lawyers

Each year, we support around 3,500 women with specialist advice in family, criminal, immigration, asylum, and employment law. Our telephone advice lines offer immediate routes for survivors to take action to protect themselves and/or their children.  Over 1 million women annually access our written legal guides for practical legal advice.

  1. Campaigning to ensure women’s voices are heard so the law meets their needs

We challenge systemic inequalities in the law through strategic litigation and campaign and policy work, ensuring women’s voices are heard. Our priorities include increasing access to legal aid and improving family court responses for survivors of domestic abuse.

  1. Supporting our sector

We play a leadership role in building capacity in the underfunded VAWG sector by providing expert legal advice and training to approximately 1,000 professionals each year. Our online advice forums engage nearly 2,000 members.
