Equation works to end domestic abuse, sexual violence, and gender inequality across Nottinghamshire. We run helpline support services for men and LGBTQ+ individuals, deliver prevention education in schools, and provide evidence-based perpetrator behaviour change programmes. Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone — we’re here to help.

Types of abuse
Domestic abuse isn’t only physical. It can be emotional, psychological, sexual, financial, or coercive control — and it can happen to anyone, in any relationship. Recognising the different forms abuse can take is often the first step to understanding what’s happening, whether to you or to someone you know.

Recognise your own harmful patterns
Making someone feel controlled, anxious, or scared is abusive — whatever the cause. The Your Choice Project helps people aged 18 and over recognise harmful behaviour and choose to change it, through a structured, confidential programme delivered in line with Respect UK’s standards of practice.

Is your support free and confidential?
Yes. All of Equations’ support services plus our partner Juno women’s aid are free and confidential. Your information will not be shared without your consent, except where there is a risk to safety.
How can I get involved or support Equation?
You can donate, fundraise, volunteer, or get your business involved. Every contribution helps us reach more people across Nottinghamshire.
Can I access resources online?
Yes. We have a range of free downloadable resources for survivors, professionals, and educators at view them here.
Do you support women?
Equation have support services for men and LGBTQ+ individuals. This means we support women who identify as LGBTQ+. If you don’t feel this applies to you, women can also access support from our partner Juno Women’s Aid..
Who can get support from Equation?
We support men and LGBTQ+ individuals experiencing domestic abuse. We also work with young people through our schools programmes, and with professionals across Nottinghamshire. Women can get support from our partners at Juno Women’s Aid.
I’m a professional. Can I access training?
Yes. We offer free training for frontline professionals to help them recognise abuse, assess risk, and support survivors effectively. Visit our Training page to find out more.
Are your campaigns and materials suitable for young people?
Yes. Our schools programmes and resources are age-appropriate and curriculum-aligned, designed for primary and secondary pupils across all year groups.
