Reducing Parental Conflict – City – Face to Face

March 5 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Free
Reducing Parental Conflict Workshop

Some degree of arguing between parents is a normal part of life, but when is it too much and what can you do as a practitioner? Frequent, intense, and poorly resolved conflict can have a lasting, negative effect on a child’s mental health, behaviour and future. But offering support at the right time and in the right way can improve outcomes for both parents and children.

This session is for anyone working with parents and explores how to recognise signs of parental conflict in the early stages, before it’s escalated to domestic abuse. Learn how to support parents to find constructive outcomes, which is shown to provide positive lessons for children in skills like negotiation and compromise.

After this training session you’ll have

  • A greater understanding of how conflict between parents can affect a child’s future
  • Awareness of the triggers for parental conflict
  • An improved understanding of the differences between domestic abuse and parental conflict
  • Knowledge about Nottingham City’s work towards reducing parental conflict
  • Practical tools to help parents find constructive outcomes

Provided in collaboration with Nottingham City Council

Prerequisites:

It is recommended that participants have completed Understanding and Responding to Domestic Violence and Abuse (Remote) – available to book through Equation

Cancellation

PLEASE NOTE: this training is being held face to face. Failure to attend without providing at least 24 hours notice will result in a £15 charge. This is due to a high number of no shows at our face to face training, which negatively affects our ability to provide free training sessions.

If you are unable to attend due to sickness on the day please inform us by email. We are also able to accept an alternative delegate in your place – their name will need to be provided before the start of the session by email to training@equation.org.uk.

Cost

Please be aware: due to the conditions of our funding, this training is free to people working in Nottingham City and County – chargeable outside of these areas.

We are monitoring the attendance list and you will be asked to pay if you do not qualify for a free ticket.
