Working with, Supporting and Referring Trans* & Non-binary Survivors of DA

Duration: 1.5 hours

Aim: 

To improve understanding of trans* and non-binary survivor experiences and offer practical advice on support and local provisions. 

Learning points: 

• Overview of trans* and non-binary identities 

• Exploration of domestic abuse in the trans* and non-binary population – experiences and statistics 

• Risk assessments, referrals and local provisions for trans* and non-binary survivors 

• Additional barriers for trans* and non-binary survivors 

• Best practice recommendations when working with trans* and non-binary survivors 

This seminar will be delivered by Equation’s Safe Accommodation & Outreach Worker for Male & LGBTQ+ survivors. Equation offer the only local service in Nottinghamshire which provides support for survivors from LGBTQ+ specialist domestic abuse workers. This service includes IDVAs, support for survivors at risk of homelessness due to domestic abuse, and a helpline.
