About this training session
Who it’s for
This session is for anyone who has direct contact with survivors or perpetrators of domestic abuse as part of their work.
Economic abuse is a form of domestic abuse that involves controlling a partner or ex-partner’s money and finances, as well as the things that money can buy.
Technology can be used as a tool to facilitate economic abuse in various ways.
Learn about the technology plays in economic abuse and the how it can take place and discover how to support survivors to reduce the risk through safety planning and risk assessment.

After this training you’ll be able to
• Identify what economic abuse is and how it differs from financial abuse
• Understand the full scale of economic abuse as well as the impact on the survivor
• Recognise the different types of economic abuse and how perpetrators use technology to carry out this abuse, including the use of online banking and Internet of Things (IoT) devices
• Understand current legislation around economic abuse
• Recognise high-risk situations and spot red flags of economic abuse, gaining guidance in how to respond and support when working with survivors
• Use resources, tools and information specifically for survivors of economic abuse.
