About this training session
Non-fatal strangulation is a way for perpetrators of domestic abuse to control and intimidate their victim and is a criminal offence under the Domestic Abuse Act. It’s estimated that over 20,000 people experience this in the UK each year.
Experiencing non-fatal strangulation can cause long-term physical and psychological effects as well as trauma.
This seminar looks at non-fatal strangulation within domestic abuse, the medical and psychological impacts it has, and issues around how it can be prosecuted.
Speaker, Nogah Ofer, is a solicitor with The Centre for Women’s Justice which is a legal charity working on accountability of state bodies in relation to violence against women and girls.
