Harmful attitudes towards gender norms, shame and honour, and stereotypes of masculinity and sexuality can act as a barrier to male & LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic abuse speaking out or accessing help from services.  Equation, a Respect-Accredited specialist domestic abuse support service in Nottinghamshire aims to bridge that gap and support survivors to access support which can aid their recovery and reduce risk.

We are looking for a Helpline & Admin Project Worker to work as part of our growing team. This is a fantastic role for someone who is passionate about domestic abuse support and prevention.

The role will involve a balance between admin and helpline tasks but calls from survivors will be the priority. You will need to provide callers with a friendly and understanding first point of contact to ensure their wishes and needs are met, and that they have a positive experience of the service.

Our Helpline service can be very fast paced with several areas of focus, so you will need to be able to multi-task and work efficiently, as well as prioritising by importance and risk.

About the role:

  • Answering calls and providing initial advice and guidance to survivors, professionals and 3rd parties
  • Assessing risk of self referring service users using DASH-RIC forms
  • Making outgoing calls to service users on the waiting list, offering support and signposting
  • Completing referral assessment and screening
  • Managing secure and non-secure inboxes, inputting referrals and contact onto secure OASIS database
  • Liaising with members of the team and other professionals
  • Completing initial research for Equation’s attendance at MARAC meetings
  • Adhering to policy and procedure around safeguarding vulnerable adults and children

 Role Details:

Working hours:  22.5 hours per week (2 days 9 – 5 and Wednesdays 11:30am – 7:30pm including a 30 min unpaid break)

Contract:  Fixed Term until 31 March 2025 (possible extension depending on funding)

Salary: £14,531.40 per annum for 22.5 hours
