Equate – healthy relationships education for your school

Healthy relationships don’t happen by chance — they’re learned. Children and young people who understand what respect, equality, and consent look like are better equipped to recognise harm, seek help, and build safe relationships throughout their lives. Early education is one of the most effective tools we have.

Tailored sessions that fit your PSHE curriculum

Equate helps young people aged 11–18 build safe, respectful and healthy relationships. Our engaging sessions cover domestic abuse, gender equality, positive relationships and mental wellbeing, and are designed to fit seamlessly into your RSE and PSHE curriculum.

What is Equate?

Equate is Equation’s healthy relationships programme for young people aged 11 to 18. It covers domestic abuse, gender equality, positive relationships and mental wellbeing, giving pupils the confidence to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.

Who is Equate for?

Equate is designed for pupils aged 11 to 18. Every school community is different, so we tailor our sessions to fit yours, rather than delivering a one-size-fits-all programme.

What happens in a session?

Two trained facilitators deliver a one-hour session to a tutor group, usually as part of a drop-down day. Sessions are interactive and age-appropriate, and every pupil receives a support card with further information.

Why it matters

Healthy relationships education
that fits your curriculum

Domestic abuse affects people of all ages, and the attitudes that shape healthy or unhealthy relationships often start forming in the teenage years. Equate gives young people the confidence to spot the difference, look after their mental wellbeing, and know where to find help.

Our facilitators are skilled in responding safely if a pupil raises a safeguarding concern during a session. Equation has been promoting healthy relationships and preventing domestic abuse in Nottingham since 2002, and schools who’ve taken part tell us the impact lasts well beyond the session itself.

How to book Equate for your school

Funding for Equate varies by area and academic year, so not all schools are funded in the same way. Some areas have subsidised places; others pay the full delivery cost. Because this changes every year, we can’t publish fixed prices here, but that shouldn’t put you off asking. Get in touch and we’ll talk you through what’s available for your school this year.
