Know More: Healthy relationships education for young women

Know More is Equation’s healthy relationship programme for young women. Delivered in schools, it helps vulnerable young women recognise their rights, build confidence, and make positive choices in relationships – reducing vulnerability to abuse before it starts.

How Know More works in your school

Delivered across eight sessions by trained facilitators, the programme builds confidence, healthy relationship skills and personal safety awareness. Sessions are interactive and can be flexible around your students’ needs and timetables. Get in touch to discuss booking Know More.

Getting to know the group

Young women are introduced to the project, meet the facilitators and agree the group’s boundaries together, creating a safe space to explore the topics ahead.

Understanding gender inequality

Exploring the social expectations placed on young women, and how these expectations can shape confidence, choices and relationships.

Choices and consequences

Practical tools and techniques to help young women think through their actions and consider the consequences of the choices they make.

Feelings and emotions

Building skills to recognise and manage difficult feelings, including anger, in healthy and constructive ways.

Healthy-unhealthy relationships

What young women deserve and should expect from a relationship, and how to recognise the difference between healthy and unhealthy behaviour.
How it works

What does Know More involve

Know More runs across eight sessions, each one exploring a different topic – from setting boundaries and healthy relationships, to managing feelings and staying safe. We keep things interactive, mixing group discussion, creative activities and role play to help young women get involved and take it in.

Delivery is flexible too – we’ll adapt the pace and structure to suit your students. In the final session, the group creates and shares a piece of creative work of their choosing, often working with local partners we set up – think an art piece using spray paints, a recording at a community studio, or a podcast or short film. It’s their chance to bring everything together, share it with others, and feel proud of what they’ve made.

Every student also has a one-to-one session before the project starts, then completes an individual evaluation with a facilitator in the final session. That way, we can signpost extra support where it’s needed, and measure the difference the programme’s made.
