Equal relationships, free from abuse
Equation’s mission is equal relationships, free from abuse. We’re a specialist charity supporting women, men and LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. We also work to prevent abuse before it happens, through education and by helping people change abusive behaviour. We believe domestic abuse is a solvable problem – and volunteers are part of that change. Whether you’re helping at an event, supporting a campaign, or serving as a trustee, your time helps us reach more people and build safer communities.

Why our work matters
Domestic abuse can affect anyone. On average, one in four women will experience abuse from a partner or family member in their lifetime, and two women a week lose their lives because of it. Men and LGBTQ+ people are affected too, and often face extra barriers to getting help.
